GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 701737
Embedded objects should be represented via an object replacement character (U+FFFC) in AtkText
Last modified: 2018-05-22 15:08:51 UTC
When an embedded object (e.g. form field, image, etc.) is present within the text of a document, it should be represented by an object replacement character (U+FFFC) in AtkText. This makes it possible for assistive technologies such as Orca to present the presence of these embedded objects to the user reading the document. (Note: Gecko, WebKitGTK, and LibreOffice Writer all do this.)
