GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 698596
Pop-up menus (right click) obscured by panel
Last modified: 2013-04-22 17:28:19 UTC
Created attachment 242156 [details] screenshot showing obscured pop-up menu The placement of pop-up (right click) menus in applications can result in parts of the menu being located behind the gnome shell panel rendering some options in the menu invisible The specific example in the attached screen shot is from the geany text editor, where I right-clicked on the misspelt word (in normal face, not the green, bold italic word) immediately to the right of the highlighted menu option. Note that right-clicking on the green, bold word immediately above positions the menu differently, such that the menu is located lower down and thus does not get obscured by the panel. This was on my laptop with a 1366 x 768 resolution screen. I am running Fedora 18 with all updates applied.
I should have mentioned that I also came across the following bug in the Fedora bugzilla: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=748369 which documents additional instances of this problem.
