Description sky2blu 2013-03-28 19:37:57 UTC
Whether it's "create logo" or "alpha to logo," changing the default gradient selection causes GIMP to "stop working." The quickest way to recreate the bug is to start GIMP then:

file
  create
    logo
     glossy (for example)

Then, in that menu,

click either blend gradient
  select a gradient

That's when GIMP crashes. This is kind of like bug 696240, but for Windows. I tried to follow the dialogue in the comments of that report and fix the bug myself. But I couldn't find gimpgradientselect.c, so I haven't changed anything. I checked through the list of reported bugs and couldn't find any other report concerning this issue for Windows. Sorry if I missed something.

thanks for the help
And for GIMP

Bug 696240 will happen on all platforms, most likely.

Is there a fix for Windows? I couldn't quite follow Natter's fix for Linux.

Thanks for your patience!

That was a change to the source code, and the same source is used on all platforms.

However, if you don't compile GIMP yourself, you'll have to wait until the next update for 2.8.x is released.

Okay. I'll give it another try!

Thanks! :)
