My suggestion

Removing the title bar in maximized windows with no menu-bar was a good design decision since it is efficient saving-space wise.

However, when there is no title bar there is no quick way to close the window.

There are a couple of ways:

-closing in overview
-using app-menu
-using keyboard shortcuts like alt+f4
-etc.

As you can see, these ways are not very quick or efficient. Going in overview makes it slow, using app-menu takes too much steps just to close the window, keyboard shortcuts are not known to everybody etc. These methods are just not obvious and evident, hence, they are not for everybody.

Since gnome goes by the moto of building a free desktop that eveybody can use there should be an easier and more accesible way to quickly, with one click close a maximized window.

Perhaps the close window button should simply be moved (when maximized) from the title bar to the app bar, e.g. next to the rest of the app controls. Or whaterver works, really.

(I've provided a picture which demonstrates how this could be done in nautilus - the close button is next to the settings button)

With best regards, Domagoj.

Yes, that's what we're planning to do.

This bug is already being tracked. Thanks for the comments though. :)
