1. Use a computer with a slow CPU/GPU. In my case, I'm using an Intel Core i5 (1.7GHz) on the "powersave" cpu governor.
2. Press the following sequence of keys as fast as possible: <SUPER> h t o p <ENTER>
3. htop should open up in a new terminal window (at least on openSUSE).
4. Go back into the overview -- the workspaces dock has disappeared!
5. Press the "Show Applications" button twice, and the workspaces dock will re-appear.
