Description Allan Day 2013-02-20 15:10:14 UTC
Right now, window captions are restricted to the width of the window thumbnail. This can lead to some really short window captions, sometimes with only a few characters. This looks really bad and makes it hard to identify the windows.

To fix this we should:

 * Allow captions to be wider than their thumbnails.
 * If the window caption string requires space that is wider than the thumbnail, allow the caption to expand up to a preset limit.

Will you prevent overlap by shrinking the thumbnails? Word wrap?
Comment 2 Allan Day 2013-03-02 23:37:15 UTC
What do you mean by word wrap? Line wrap? I suppose that in some cases this would result in smaller thumbnails.

I guess I'd need to see a mockup of what you're proposing.
Comment 4 GNOME Infrastructure Team 2021-07-05 14:19:26 UTC
GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org.
As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org
which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately
quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).

If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent
and supported software version, then please follow
  https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines
and create a new ticket at
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/-/issues/

Thank you for your understanding and your help.
