Description Nicolas Silva 2013-02-14 17:16:58 UTC
It often happens that I am in a room close enough to the wifi router that it detects the network, but far enough that it always fails to connect to it. Since it is a known network the network manager automatically tries to connect, and fails, and when failing, prompts an intrusive dialog asking me to input the password for the network. I hit cancel, and want to disable wifi to not be interrupted anymore, but the network manager is already trying to connect again and doesn't let me switch wifi off. I have to wait (users hate to wait) until it fails again and it will probably prompt me for a password again.

Not cool.

If I could disable wifi while the network manager is trying to connect, I could resume to using my computer faster rather than being actively waiting for network sadness to pass.

(gnome 3.6, up to date ubuntu gnome remix)
