See the attached screenshot. First of all, the text on the bottom of the window describes a procedure which simply doesn't work. For example, pressing Backspace while I have the row for the Compose key selected does nothing, just like holding down a new key does nothing.

In fact if you want to change the shortcut you have to press in the second column which lists the keys to get a hidden drop down menu to appear. You also have to hold down the mouse button for the drop down menu to stay open. This is difficult to discover and contrary to what the supporting text indicates. Other than that, my compliments for the design of the keyboard settings; I like the simplicity.

Yes, these shortcut settings work differently from all the other ones. We can try making it behave a bit better but I actually think these should look different and be outside the treeview somehow. Will have to think about it.

One possibility is moving those options back to Region & Language similar to how it was in 3.4 (just replace the "breadcrumb" in the Input Sources tab with the actual shortcut dialog instead of a link to Keyboard>Shortcuts).

Those keybindings were removed from GNOME 3.22's redesigned keyboard panel, and are now configurable in gnome-tweak-tool.

In the future, we'll probably revive some of those keybindings, see bug 771009. The current mockups would avoid the problems mentioned in this bug report.
