GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 691365
Provide a filtering search bar for the XDG Pictures folder iconview
Last modified: 2013-04-19 16:26:46 UTC
As of 3.6, one cannot manually add wallpapers to the gnome-control-center. Eventually, when g-c-c recursively displays the contents of the Pictures folder (bug #682126), it will become quite hard to manage a typical computer's image collection with just an iconview. It would then be very handy to have a built-in filtering search based on the paths and filenames (and maybe other things if available).
We wouldn't show *every* picture from the ~/Pictures directory in any case, so a search feature would be unnecessary (and mostly replicating functionality already in the Photos app).
Hmm alright then, could you tell me where I can find the plans that explain the global/integrated vision for this then? https://live.gnome.org/Design/SystemSettings/Background has not been updated in a long time and does not provide the rationale for the changes we've seen since 3.6 - I'm all for understanding the grand scheme where this fits, where we're headed, etc. Thanks!
