Description Asif Ali Rizvan 2012-12-19 07:57:21 UTC
I Just love the new search interface in Gnome 3.7.3. It is just awesome, moreover it is fast and smooth.

But when we search for say "mp3" file, it gives all the mp3s in the system.

Say we only remember the keywords "good" and "mp3"

searching with "*good*mp3" should get us say "this is good.mp3" or "goodnight.mp3" or anything which has "good" and ending with "mp3"

Thanks.

Thanks for the bug report. This particular bug has already been reported into our bug tracking system, but please feel free to report any further bugs you find.

For the given example, you could simply search for "good mp3". Nautilus search works like that of popular web search engines. If you recall two keywords, you write those two keywords, separated by a space, and nautilus will search for matches for those two keywords.

Thanks António for the hidden method for searching files with substrings,

it is even better that nautilus search file names with "good mp3" turns out to be '*mp3*good*' or '*good*mp3*'

I'm glad the search is even better for general users as they don't use *.$^ etc.

really sweet!

I think this feature should be advertised. Thanks a lot.
