It should be simple to reproduce this error.

- Open a JPEG-picture
- Decompose to one of the mentioned colour models
- Recompose

Error scanning 'decompose-data' parasite: too few layers found

Thanks for the bug report.
Confirming for GIMP 2.8.2 on Mac OS X, thus setting OS:='All'.
It has no impact whether the checkbox 'Foreground as registration color' is ticked or not. 
Other color modes, unlike 'Alpha' are not affected -> marking it as duplicate of bug #564697, but please feel free to report any further bugs you find.
