Description Asif Ali Rizvan 2012-11-19 00:54:44 UTC
I play music files, and after 10 minutes, the screen locks, when suddenly, I need to mute the sound or reduce the volume to talk to someone or on phone; The keyboard volume and mute keys are not functioning while the screen is locked.

It would be very useful to have 'multimedia' keys, especially, vol+, vol-, mute, play, pause, next, back keys to be working when the screen is locked for a seamless gnome experience.

thanks.

hi,

Thanks for the report. I agree that this is a fairly annoying issue.

This is something we have been discussing for a long time. Fortunately it looks like a solution may be coming soon(ish?). Recently gnome-shell took over screen locking duties and there is talk about moving the grabs for the media keys there (from its current location in gnome-settings-daemon) precisely so that this will work.

Please follow the other bug.
