GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 686729
Collapsible menus on Rhythmbox have their arrows on the wrong side
Last modified: 2016-12-11 06:25:09 UTC
Originally reported as a Paper Cut in Ubuntu at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rhythmbox/+bug/1070541 The arrows that indicate the state of the collapsible menu in the Rhythmbox browser are on the wrong side of their respective menus. The attached screenshot shows that they are on the right on the menu, when they should be on the left for the following reasons: 1. The large space between the end of the menu name and the arrow make it unclear that there is a relationship between the two, leading to user confusion. 2. Having the arrows on the left is what user's have been trained, through their use of software, to expect. Having them on the right violates the principle of least astonishment [1]. I propose that the arrows be moved over to the left. [1] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Principle_of_least_astonishment

Created attachment 227122 [details] Screenshot Woops. Here it is.
I think it looks better when it's on the right side. Normally it would be better if the arrows are in the left side. But here since the icons are there in the left side, the arrows would add up to the clutter, if placed together with the icons.
there are no expanders any more.
