GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 686137
"By modification date" sort useless for recent files
Last modified: 2013-07-12 01:35:23 UTC
Recent files should really be sorted by access date instead of modification date so that the most recently used files appear at the start of the list. This is especially important for media that won't be modified by the opened application, such as video, music or PDFs.
Right. See bug 698365 for the same issue in the GTK file chooser.
Created attachment 248959 [details] [review] Bug 686137 - Add Access Date column and set as default for recent This shows the column at all times, should it only be visible when in recent files?
I'm fine with the option of always showing it among the selectable columns, as long as it's not in the default set.
Review of attachment 248959 [details] [review]: Thanks, looks good to me.
This problem has been fixed in the development version. The fix will be available in the next major software release. Thank you for your bug report.
Thanks, Garrett - this is a significant improvement.
