GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 686051
Pending transaction edits get "lost"
Last modified: 2018-06-29 23:11:12 UTC
There is no visible audit trail showing where pending transaction edits exist. This causes a warning when the file is manually saved, but not when an auto save occurs. It is possible to have more than one pending transaction edit at a time. I suggest to make the register tab blink when there is a pending edit present in a register to show where a pending edit is. A weakness to this suggestion is that sometimes some tabs are not visible, so a better solution would be preferred. Perhaps something on the bottom bar by the progress bar. Whatever method is used to return to that register, the focus should stay in the transaction containing the pending edit. Alternatively prohibit interrupting pending edits altogether by requiring the edits to be accepted or abandoned before leaving the transaction.
A worse problem that this issue causes is that it is possible to start a transaction edit in a search results register view, then the transaction cannot be edited from any of the account registers and there is no clue indicating where to go to resolve the dilemma.
I just thought of another way out of this dilemma. The warning about a pending edit could have a button that would take the user to the transaction in the register view that contains the pending edit.
By the way, I currently observed this in release 2.6.11 running in Debian Linux
Reassign version to 2.4.x so that individual 2.4 versions can be retired.
