GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 684468
LibreOffice Writer text is not spoken after the application regains focus
Last modified: 2012-10-15 14:11:47 UTC
If we switch to some other application while typing into libreoffice writer document and return back the characters are not read out. It continues reading immediately after the enter key is pressed.
Can you please provide exact steps to reproduce, click by click / step by step?
1. Open Orca. 2. Open Libreoffice writer 3. Type few words. 4. open browser and view some pages. 5. Return to writer and continue typing. 6. The current line is not read out. 7. Press enter and continue typing. It will be read out.
And what version of LibreOffice Writer? There has been some discussion on the Orca list and also in bug 685098 that LibreOffice 3.6 has some accessibility bugs not present in LibreOffice 3.5.
Libreoffice 3.5
Prathibha: Please try LibreOffice 3.6 and report back.
I was able to reproduce this issue and verify that it was an issue with Writer not generating a window.activate event. I opened the following bug with LibreOffice: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=55695
This will need to be fixed in LibreOffice.
