Description Andrew Gunnerson 2012-09-19 05:00:27 UTC
GNOME Screensaver temporarily shows the password before hiding it with the "dots" if the password is typed very quickly.

For example, when my screen is locked and I press: [Escape] + "mypassword", I'm able to see about 3-4 letters before they are changed to the dots.

When the system is busy, this is even worse. While I was compiling the kernel earlier today, I was able to type my whole password (24 chars) before it was hidden.

This occurs with gnome-screensaver 3.5.5 in Fedora 18 and did not occur in the 3.4.x series.

So this is about the default 3.5 lock screen?
Comment 2 Andrew Gunnerson 2012-09-19 11:23:29 UTC
Thanks for replying! This is about the default lock screen in GNOME 3.5/3.6 (the one where the whole screen slides up).
Comment 3 Matthias Clasen 2012-09-19 12:03:55 UTC
that is a gnome-shell bug then, but I think it is already fixed in 3.5.92.
