GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 682655
Crash when opening some jpg files
Last modified: 2012-08-27 17:56:47 UTC
When opening the attached jpg file (created with Gimp 2.8.0) Gimp crashes consistently, complaining about the jpg plugin (file-jpg.exe). 2.8.2 opens other jpg files just fine & Xnview opens his file OK. Thought I'd better let you know. I'd been doing some image editing before reporting the bug so I just tried double checking that it was a hard fail & the file opened twice OK & crashed the third time.
The file got lost... Please attach again. Thanks!
This time I got an error message saying that the file (at 10,071 KB) is greater than the 1,000 KB limit. I don't want to compress or otherwise mess with it as that will probably destroy its ability to show the problem. What's the best way to send it ?
Here's a link to the file https://www.yousendit.com/download/TEhYMWZPK3h6NE5jR05Vag
Output in 2.6.12 (not 2.8.x) is: While parsing XMP metadata: Error on line 42 char 1: End of element <exif:Flash> not expected in this context ** (file-jpeg:18781): WARNING **: JPEG - unable to decode XMP metadata packet Also it has an embedded color profile that I first had to convert. The image opens without problems in 2.6.12 though. Don't have 2.8.x on this machine.
