GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 680086
Each Tip of the Day has an "n" shown at the end
Last modified: 2018-06-29 23:09:34 UTC
I'm using 64-bit Windows Vista Home Premium, and I just upgraded from GnuCash 2.4.10 to 2.4.11, and now each Tip of the Day has an "n" shown at the end. Example: "To switch between multiple tabs in the main window, press Control+Page Up/Down.n"
I can confirm this bug. I've tested GnuCash 2.4.11 under Ubuntu and under Win XP and it appears only on the latter so I guess it is windows specific. I also noticed, as I use the Italian locale, that tips of the day are displayed untraslated. I remember someone did some work on tips of the day between 2.4.10 and 2.4.11 so I think the problem came from there.
I can confirm this bug - GnuCash 2.4.11, Windows XP. Although minor, it is the first thing seen when first starting GnuCash, and every time it's started, so it would be good to fix to avoid bad impressions.
Sounds like a UI problem. Caused by differences between Unix and Windows newline characters, perhaps?
Thank you for your report. The problem is indeed tied to the difference in line ending style between Windows and Unix. I have committed a fix for this issue for both the development branch (trunk r22721) and the 2.4 branch (2.4 r22722). This fix will appear in the next release.
Reassign version to 2.4.x so that individual 2.4 versions can be retired.
