GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 679908
Make the smart bookmarks feature discoverable with a self-documenting interface
Last modified: 2016-10-07 21:27:54 UTC
Smart bookmarks (being able to put a %s in a bookmark's URL) is one of the nicest features of epiphany. However, unless you're a geek who crawls obscure websites, you won't ever know about it. The solution is simple. Along with the bookmark ui redesign (perhaps for 3.6 or 3.8) as illustrated in https://live.gnome.org/Design/Apps/Web/Bookmarks#Tentative_Design , Simply add, inside the bookmark UI, a short explanatory label that says: "Use %s to make a smart bookmark.", with a [Learn more] or [?] link to learn more about it from the contextual mallard documentation. Also, highlight the %s strings in bookmark URLs by making them bold. Epic discoverability will ensue.
Hi, the bookmarks code has been rewritten from scratch. When you have a convenient opportunity to test the new version of the code (which will be present in Epiphany 3.23.1) please check to see if your issue is still a problem, and reply here. Thanks!
