GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 678746
Bad font Antialiasing - sometimes green, sometimes not working at all
Last modified: 2012-06-25 04:57:21 UTC
Created attachment 217160 [details] Screenshot of bad antialiasing issue. I could not find this bug listed anywhere, but I am having a terrible time with fonts and antialiaising. See attachment. Fonts and antialiasing of fonts worked fine for me using Gimp 2.6, but since upgrading to 2.8, the fonts are either not antialiased at all (with Antialiasing checked) or render with an ugly green boarder. Although I have not found this mentioned in the bug reports, I am not the only one with this issue. See the following posts: http://www.gimpusers.com/forums/gimp-user/14407-bug-with-fonts-when-antialiasing-on http://crunchbanglinux.org/forums/topic/20427/gimp-28-font-antialiasing-bug-workaround/ The suggested "solutions" and workarounds are not really the answer. Something is wrong... Maybe with Gimp, maybe with Gnome, I don't know. I am running Ubuntu 12.04, and I am using Gnome 3.4 with Gnome Shell. The version of Gimp is Gimp 2.8 from Ubuntu PPA (2.8.0-1ubuntu0ppa4~oneiric). I have attached a screenshot to illustrate the problem. Some text are not antialiased at all, or are antialised very poorly, while the yellow one has an aweful green boarder. The font used was Ariel (all fonts have the same problem), and I made sure the Antialiasing box was checked (and is shown as such in the screen shot).
