GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 678290
outdated libparted and commandline parted
Last modified: 2014-08-30 02:00:52 UTC
Tested using: gparted-live-0.12.1-5.iso It appears gparted is using libparted 2.3 (based on running it from a terminal). Commandline parted is also version 2.3. Note that this parted version was released on 28-May-2010 and there have been 3 more versions since then. (I was originally going to file a bug about not detecting "loop" partition tables, but I discovered the current parted version works fine)
Currently GParted Live is using a patched version of parted-2.3 from Ubuntu that includes many of the later enhancements to parted. We do plan to migrate to parted 3.1 or higher, but originally held off because parted 3.0 had removed the ability to resize FAT16/32 and HFS/HFS+. Right now we are just trying to ensure that GParted Live is stable. There were lots of problems in the transition from parted 1.8.8 to the early 2.x series. Consequently we are taking our time before moving to the 3.x series.
GParted Live 0.19.1-4 was released on August 29, 2014 and includes parted/libparted 3.2-5. Closing this bug report.
