the output from terminal

when i poweroff the parted magic live cd "box" ( pmagic_2012_05_14.iso ), the gnome-boxes interface is no longer responding. click on "New" or the recycle button has no effect.

This was found during the fedora test days, the iso is available from http://sourceforge.net/projects/partedmagic/files/partedmagic/Parted%20Magic%202012_05_14/pmagic_2012_05_14.iso/download

NB (unrelated to this bug):
(gnome-boxes:2218): Boxes-WARNING **: fedora-installer.vala:179: Failed to fetch prefered keyboard layout from user settings, falling back to 'us'..

The used layout is the default/standard one on a us english system
$ gsettings get org.gnome.libgnomekbd.keyboard layouts
@as []

Does that mean the keymap list is empty ?

At the end if express install of fedora 17 rc1 x86, i eventually get this kind
of messages (9 times, till now (maybe two hours after i started the install)):

(gnome-boxes:10353): Boxes-WARNING **: libvirt-machine.vala:261: Fetching of
stats for 'Fedora 17' is taking too long. Probably a libvirt bug.

i'd say that maybe this is the real problem.

second backtrace

in order to make sure it's the same freeze, i've backtraced the reboot from parte magic live cd.

Thats one problem with mainloop based async programming: stack traces aren't very useful usually. Based on past experience and comment#3, my first guess would be that its a libvirt/libvirt-glib issue. To prove me right or wrong, if you could reproduce this bug and check that libvirtd isn't hung at that time by running `virsh list`, that would be a good start towards tracing this.

For what it's worth, I've seen this bug a few times, it seems starting a vm, showing it maximized in the window, going back to the collection view and trying to show it again is enough to trigger it.

Reopening as I can't see any open non developer question.

Its in comment#6.
Comment 12 Zeeshan Ali 2013-01-07 01:10:28 UTC
Marking it as needinfo, not just because of question in comment#6 but also to see if this is still reproducible even.
