GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 675921
Pathological performance on xmlNodeSetContent
Last modified: 2021-07-05 13:21:51 UTC
As reported to the mailing list at http://mail.gnome.org/archives/xml/2012-May/msg00006.html. There are some cases where xmlNodeSetContent is O(n²) in the size of the input, which can be problematic when the input is large. There is a synthetic example of this at https://gist.github.com/2656940, and a preliminary patch at: https://github.com/ConradIrwin/libxml2/commit/b368604d9ba04fec68dbc93733e1c2737766747e
GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org. As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately quite limited so not every ticket can get handled). If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent and supported software version, then please follow https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines and create a new ticket at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/libxml2/-/issues/ Thank you for your understanding and your help.
