Description krzyzstof 2012-05-07 21:16:36 UTC
Hello,

I have installed Ubuntu 12.04 (32 bits + Unity) from scratch on my Laptop Dell D531.
Rhythmbox v.2.96 is installed by default.
All my music (only FLAC files) is on my DLNA server. I have plugged Rhythmbox on it.
Several issues appears and one is critical :
1) The column Time duration is always displayed as "351909:41:29" !?!
2) The seek bar is disabled. (Even if erase my file and I do "sudo apt-get install gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly").
3) After a while, Rhythmbox freezes !

If I use Rythmbox with local musics, thoses bugs do not appear !
There is no bug with my DLNA server because before using Ubuntu 12.04 on my laptop I used Ubuntu 10.04 with Rhythmbox 0.13.1 and the same DLNA server without any problems.

Thanks
Krzyzstof

Why do you think gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly has anything to do with flac playback?

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug.
Without a stack trace from the freeze it's very hard to determine what caused it.
Can you get us a stack trace? Please see http://live.gnome.org/GettingTraces for more information on how to do so. Thanks in advance!

Hello Jonathan,

Concerning gstreamer, I have just read the official solution about the freeze of seek bar :
http://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/rhythmbox#la_barre_de_progression_est_desactivee

Concerning a stack trace, I read your link tomorow and try to post one ;)

Thanks for your help !
Comment 3 Jonathan Matthew 2012-05-07 22:38:26 UTC
That's only for mp3 playback, like it says in the second sentence.
Comment 4 krzyzstof 2012-05-08 10:00:07 UTC
You know I am not an expert : It's not writting "only" but "notably" with MP3 files that's why I tried ;)
I think I have installed now all debug package (I hope cause for a non-expert and for a non-english user, the tutorial is not very easy).
Do I install bug-buddy programm ?
Can you tell me how start Rhythmbox in debug mode, please ?
Thanks for your help.

Hello Jonathan,
Rhythmbox crashes again today. I don't know how to run it in debug mode. I have only found a file nammed ".xsession-errors". Maybe it could help you.
If you look for further informations tell me how to do ;)
Comment 7 Jonathan Matthew 2012-05-09 08:13:06 UTC
I still need a stack trace, as I said above. http://live.gnome.org/GettingTraces has some information on how to do this.

Yes I've tried to understand your link...but after several hours yesterday and again today I failed. I've tried to install bug-buddy too on my ubuntu 12.04 but it failed too (and again after several long searches on the web, even with this link : https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/precise/i386/bug-buddy/2.31.92-0ubuntu4).
My willing was to help you to improve your great soft, but I can't afford to spend so much time to understand how to help you. It's a pitty. Anyway...

For information, I have found the reason for issues 1 & 2 (but not 3) :
1) The column Time duration is always displayed as "351909:41:29"
2) The seek bar is disabled
