GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 673621
context menu items look insensitive but aren't
Last modified: 2012-08-31 19:50:22 UTC
When an item is right clicked and cut or copy are selected, at the time of paste (using right click) the menu doesn't reflect that there is an item available to be pasted. While the paste is still possible, the menu line is grayed out. If another nautilus window is opened then the Paste menu item is correctly enabled and not grayed out. When nautilus is restarted and there is nothing available to be pasted the menu item is grayed out and not selectable.
I just saw this a few minutes ago on Ubuntu 12.04 with latest updates. There seem to be multiple places where text is sometimes gray when it should be black.
I also see this on Ubuntu 12.04 with all updates applied as at the time of this comment.
I noticed same error 2-3 days ago, I didn't report at once as this problem seemed to me somewhat inconsistent: Sometimes Paste is working fine, sometimes it is greyed out, and without proper description of bug it is pretty much impossible to locate bug. But I just now located the error: If you cut some file and want to paste it, Paste text is grayed out. Behavior does not change due to more opened windows or such... If you click on greyed text Paste, files are moved as they should be. Status of Paste text in context menu does not reflect the fact that there is something selected which can be pasted. Copying is working fine.
Sorry, missed app and OS details: $ nautilus --version GNOME nautilus 3.4.2 Ubuntu 12.04

I can't reproduce this with GTK master, so I am going to close it as a duplicate of bug 672046. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 672046 ***
