GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 672664
Google-borne contact groups showing up, cannot be renamed or deleted
Last modified: 2012-03-23 10:13:05 UTC
In some situations (not sure when/how to reproduce), my otherwise carefully sorted/grouped contact list gets taken over with some arbitrary groups that seem to emanate from Google (even if I don't use a google account for xmpp!). I end up with stuff like "Friends", "Personal", "Starred in android", etc., and this duplicates contacts all over the place. Maybe this has something to do with eds using gmail's contact list? In any case, I couldn't figure out a clear pattern for this bug to happen. Sometimes those rogue groups show up in my contact list, sometimes they don't.
Yeah that's probably Folks using groups from your Google abook. Closing as a dup of bug #660281 as ignoring such groups in Empathy will solve your problem. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 660281 ***
