Description ersharpe 2001-12-14 18:14:21 UTC
Package: gnome-pim
Version: 1.2.0
Severity:

>Synopsis: Crashes when add a zip code to an existing address
>Class: sw-bug
System: Basic RedHat 7.2 distro; 2.4.7-10 kernel; running on a fairly new custom-built Athlon machine

>Description:

Suppose an entry in GnomeCard has a single address
listed, but without a zip code.
If I click on the "modify" button, to bring up
that card's data, then go to the "addresses" screen, click on the current address listed to
re-list that data, add a zip code, and then
hit the "modify" button on the addresses slide,
GnomeCard will crash with a segmentation
fault, bringing up a request-for-bug-report window. And here I am.

This seems to be independent of how much other
data is listed on other slides, and also independent of whether or not this is the first
operation I try to do when running GnomeCard.
I've had it happen for several cards now.
If there's any interest [see below], I'm up
for trying more permutations on making it
crash....

Also, I'm running the binary for gnomecard that
came with the RedHat 7.2 distro.
I did not get the sources and compile it myself,
for example.

>How-To-Repeat:

See above.

I apologize if this bug has been fixed in
a more recent version -- the RH 7.2 distro
is pretty recent, but if GnomeCard is being
actively worked on, I'm sure there are more
recent versions still, and I haven't tried
looking them up and digging through ChangeLogs
to see if this has been fixed previously.

I also apologize for not giving much information
that may be relevant concerning the rest of the
system I'm running. I listed the basics above,
but I'm sure there's other stuff people would
need to know, but I don't personally know what
else would be relevant....

Also, obviously this is only a minor annoyance,
not a serious problem with the program.

Otherwise it's a fine little program. :-)
