Description Ulrich Müller 2012-02-03 16:32:24 UTC
Forwarding downstream bug <https://bugs.gentoo.org/391967>.

gdm was configured with --enable-authentication-scheme=pam and is used together with S/Key authentication (packages sys-auth/skey-1.1.5-r8 and sys-auth/pam_skey-1.1.5-r2 in Gentoo).

With gdm-3.2.1.1, login with S/Key is almost impossible: The S/Key challenge is displayed for a few seconds only in a temporary window (sorry, I don't know the correct technical term) that pops up at the bottom of the screen. This makes login with S/Key nearly impossible, since the challenge must be read and entered into an OTP calculator.

By contrast, gdm-2.20.11 used to display the S/Key challenge permanently just below the password field. Could such permanent display be restored for gdm 3?

I believe this was fixed at the same time bug 682544 was fixed. Please reopen if you continue to have problems in GNOME 3.6 or later.
