Description archer 2001-12-14 03:42:38 UTC
Using gimp-1.2.2 compiled from source on RH7.2,
alt-right-click fails to display only the layer mask
in the image window. I reproduced this on two
different machines (Dell Latitude CPx/650 and
FIC AZ-11/Duron 800/Trident Card). The desktop
machine sits behind a Belkin 8-port KVM switch.

The feature worked in 1.2.1 on the laptop.

I suppose that this could be a compiler issue,
as the compiler used turns out to be the infamous
2.96. If the bug doesn't reproduce, this was probably
the problem.

You wrote "alt-right-click"; that did never work. Did you try
Alt-Leftclick ?
Comment 2 Raphaël Quinet 2001-12-14 15:31:41 UTC
Also, did you check that your window manager is not trapping the
alt-click combination? Some window managers use this combination
to allow the user to drag windows on the screen and do not forward
the mouse click to the application, so the Gimp would have no way
to know that you want to hide/show the layer mask. Please check
the configuration of your window manager if alt-left-click does
not work for you.

If you're using Sawfish as window manager, it probably traps the signal. Go
to the Gnome control center, select Sawfish shortcuts, select context
"window" and delete the entry refering to Alt + button1-click...

It's pretty obvious that it's a window manager problem and the
reporter failed to respond for quite some time now. I'll close this
report as NOTABUG.
