Description William Jon McCann 2012-01-17 17:47:51 UTC
When I have a blank page open the reload icon is sensitive.

Wonder if the reload icon should even be visible at all when I'm typing in the url bar. Other more interesting things to show could be a "go" button or a "clear" button.

The reload icon is no longer sensitive.

Chaging title to Jon's suggestion.
Comment 2 Jakub Steiner 2012-01-23 17:45:51 UTC
I think it would be nicer not to have any icon while the entry is empty. Only after a page has started loading, a stop button should take that right hand side and become a reload button after it completes or gets stopped.

I've been pondering edit-clear. It seems we would have to have it in addition to reload once a page has been loaded (most relevant case). I lean towards not having it at all for URL entry.

I also think we can live without a 'go' button. But if you insist, go-jump would be the icon to look up (and actually add to -symbolic first) ;)

I suppose this is useful for touch-based interfaces? Could it be possible to only show them when we detect a touch screen? I think they are quite useless otherwise.

In case it's not possible to show it just for touch screen, you could show it just when the entry is actually focused.
Comment 6 Michael Catanzaro 2014-08-29 01:31:10 UTC
The reload button is no longer in the location entry, so it no longer makes sense to hide it conditionally.
