GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 666848
New message / reply / forward window is slow to show up
Last modified: 2016-04-06 09:54:07 UTC
In Evolution's mail mode, from the moment you click the "New" (or "Reply" or "Forward") button on the toolbar to the moment you actually see the message composer showing up, it takes about 4 seconds (unless you have a superfast modern computer - I tested on a Pentium M, Celeron D and Pentium 4 processors). This makes the ui feel sluggish. It should be instantaneous.
This 'issue' seems to be very present in 3.6.0+ Is there a way to help test and/or profile this?
I am experiencing this and worse: occasionally the delay is so long that it appears that Evolution has frozen and must be force-closed. In every case I get the following message in dmesg: (evolution:7878): evolution-util-WARNING **: name_selector_get_client_cb: Unable to connect to 'Contacts': The requested resource was not found: https://developers.google.com/accounts/docs/AuthForInstalledApps My system: OPENSUSE 13.2, Evolution 3.12.11 Specific examples: Reply → (Delay): "Contacts" message above in dmesg. Close down: ** (evolution:7878): WARNING **: Shell not finalized on exit RSS: cleaning all remaining sessions ...done Restart: (evolution:9016): Gtk-WARNING **: Failed to register client: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name org.gnome.SessionManager was not provided by any .service files RSS Plugin enabled (evolution 3.12, evolution-rss 0.3.95~git20141120.b2253df) soup init() Forward: Several seconds hang then runs "Contacts" message above in dmesg. Reply: Several seconds hang then runs "Contacts" message above in dmesg. New: Several seconds hang then runs "Contacts" message above in dmesg. Sometimes the delay is much longer, making it look like it has stopped operating altogether.
This bug report is reported as bug #630504. The AuthForInstalledApps is also filled and unrelated to this bug report, search for that URL to get the information. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 630504 ***
