GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 664677
There's no way to just clear all (or any) downloads in the download pane
Last modified: 2013-12-23 13:55:17 UTC
Note: this problem is reported against Epiphany 3.0.4. Newer versions may have fixed it. I was downloading a bunch of PDF's and noticed that at some point my Epiphany window became wider than my screen. On a 1280px wide screen, 12 downloaded files seem to be enough to trigger this. This is now bug 664675. However, what surprised and annoyed me even more is that there is no way to clear the download pane quickly! I neither found a button to clear all downloads, nor any way to clear each one of them separately without opening either the file or the folder it's downloaded to (and note that choosing to open folder kept opening the same Downloads folder in Nautilus for each file, instead of reusing the same window). Dear developers, please add means to: 1) remove a download from the list (each download already has a menu, it just needs one more item) 2) clear the download list 3) disable the download pane permanently.
Ideas for implementing point 3): 1) hook into the global notification system (same that tells me there's new email) 2) add an option to auto-hide the download pane (so that it appears for some time, and then goes away). Dismissing it manually each time shouldn't be the only option.
This bug was reported against a version which is not supported any more. Developers are no longer working on this version so there will not be any bug fixes for it. Can you please check again if the issue you reported here still happens in a recent version of GNOME and update this report by adding a comment and adjusting the 'Version' field? Again thank you for reporting this and sorry that it could not be fixed for the version you originally used here. Without feedback this report will be closed as INCOMPLETE after 6 weeks.
There is a close button on the download bar.
