Description Michael Trunner 2011-11-01 10:35:43 UTC
Tracker won't work for me every time after login.

I have to:
tracker-control -es

or

tracker-control -rs

to make it work again.
Next time when I start my Computer it is broken again.

Version is 0.12.7
Comment 1 Martyn Russell 2011-11-01 10:44:09 UTC
Hmm, you should VERY rarely use -r or -e with tracker-control.

When you shut down, has Tracker indexed all your content? A quick tracker-control with no args should show this.

Failing that, can you attach logs here according to:

  http://live.gnome.org/Tracker/Documentation/Debugging

To this bug please?
Comment 2 Michael Trunner 2011-11-01 11:12:26 UTC
Yes it has indexed all my content, but it doesn't work nexttime.

Comment 3 Martyn Russell 2011-11-01 11:38:06 UTC
Hmm, this one is quite clear from the logs, thank you:

29 Okt 2011, 12:52:55: Tracker-Warning **: database table is locked (strerror of errno (not necessarily related): Die Ressource ist zur Zeit nicht verfügbar)

Juergbi, any comment here? I haven't seen this one for a while now. Does it look like anything we might have caused recently? If Michael is using tracker-control -r then it should clear the issue up, but I would not expect this to repeat on each boot.
Comment 4 Jürg Billeter 2011-11-01 12:23:04 UTC
What version of SQLite are you running?
Comment 5 Michael Trunner 2011-11-01 12:25:40 UTC
Name : sqlite3
Version : 3.7.8-2
Comment 6 Martyn Russell 2011-11-01 12:46:55 UTC
Interestingly, I am using 3.7.7-2ubuntu2 (Oneiric)
Comment 7 Matej 2012-05-19 12:21:52 UTC
I have the same problem on Precise (tracker 0.14.0-2ubuntu1, libsqlite3 3.7.9-2ubuntu1).

As a consequence I have nothing in gnome-documents and gnome-shell can't find any documents. If I'm right gnome-shell is using only gnome-documents and no zeitgeist as a document source in gnome 3.4.
Comment 8 Martyn Russell 2012-05-21 10:56:54 UTC
I am using libsqlite3 3.7.9-2ubuntu1 on Precise here and it works fine.

Matej, does a reindex resolve the issue here?
This shouldn't happen at all but usually the only resolution is a reindex.
Comment 9 Matej 2012-05-21 20:38:07 UTC
Yes, reindex resolved that. But I got to the broken state multiple times before. I'll report that when it happens again.
Comment 10 Martyn Russell 2012-05-22 06:51:41 UTC
Thanks Matej, did you perhaps have a very old version of Tracker?
The errors you were getting are rarely seen these days, that's why I ask.
Comment 11 Matej 2012-05-22 21:55:20 UTC
It's 0.14.0-2ubuntu1 as I wrote above.
Comment 12 Michael Trunner 2012-09-07 09:11:37 UTC
I didn't used tracker the last month but currently it seems to work - at least for me.
Comment 13 Martyn Russell 2012-09-07 09:47:48 UTC
Thanks Michael, I will close this then and you can reopen it if you see the problem again!
