Messaging and VoIP Accounts in Applications list

The "Messaging and VoIP Accounts" shows up in the applications list in GNOME 3.2. I think this is a bad idea because: - It is not an application on its own, so I would not look for it in the applications list. It has been in the settings menu in GNOME 2.x where it made sense. If integration with the control center is not an option in GNOME 3.x this should not be exposed at all - The same icon as the Empathy main app (contact list) is used, which means you now have to read the text in order to find the right launcher - defeating the purpose if the huge launcher icon

FWIW I have seen the wish to have empathy's accounts dialog and gnome 3.2's "online accounts" merged together somehow a number of times now. While it has also been stated that the "online accounts" design aims to do something different, the distinction does not really make sense to me and I guess most other people. To make things worse, having the "chat" toggle for GTalk in "online accounts" delivers the message that this window is in fact the right place to look for IM account settings and people will be very irritated.
I agree with you; I'm not the one needing to be convinced...
Allan, Nick: any advice on this? We basically have two options: - Remove the empathy-accounts desktop file. But then the only way to access it (beside command line) would be the edit -> accounts menu in Empathy. - Keep the desktop file but then it should use a different icon to not confuse people in the Shell app list.
Agree with Michael on this one. It makes sense to only have the accounts settings accessible via Empathy. I'd vote to remove the desktop file.
