Description Michał Górny 2011-10-18 19:31:48 UTC
Right now, evince identifies itself in menus as 'Document viewer' which is ambiguous. It would be great if it could mention the application name as well, much like 'Evince document viewer'.

Thag was done deliberately, in bug 312399.
Comment 2 Michał Górny 2011-10-18 20:43:33 UTC
Then I would like to ask to re-consider this. I'm not sure how things look exactly in GNOME, but in xfce this makes choosing the file handler harder. If I see 'Document Viewer' in the list, I have to think _which one_, and that usually involves guessing.

AFAICS AbiWord uses something like 'Name=AbiWord; GenericName=Word Processor' but I'm not sure what it does exactly. Maybe this is the intent?
