Description David Carlson 2011-10-18 18:41:24 UTC
I get a Scheduled Transactions with variables cannot be automatically created. error when I try to create a scheduled transaction to re-invest a dividend.

My procedure is to navigate to an existing transaction in a security account representing a re-investment of a dividend, choose Schedule, set repetition, and try to accept the transaction.

The transaction detail view does not show the correct splits for income or purchase price per share, or number of shares.

The two columns shown are titled Debit Formula and Credit Formula.

Perhaps the problem here is that the error message gives no clue that the actual problem is that the Create Automatically box should not be checked for transactions that either have variables or an exchange between currencies and/or securities. If that box is not checked, the Since Last Run dialog will ask for values as needed when the transaction gets ToDo status. The odd thing, which I think I covered in another bug report, is that sometimes the Since Last Run dialog wants a price for a stock in a dividend transaction when no shares are purchased, but the security account is included for reference with a split line that has zero value, at least in release 2.6.7.

This problem has been fixed in our software repository. The fix will go into the next software release. Once that release is available, you may want to check for a software upgrade provided by your Linux distribution.

Reassign version to 2.4.x so that individual 2.4 versions can be retired.
