GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 66065
Segfault on Gnome panel
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
Package: nautilus Severity: major Version: 1.4.0.4 Synopsis: Segfault on Gnome panel Bugzilla-Product: nautilus Bugzilla-Component: Installer Description: When I logon to Gnome the panel either partially loads or does not load at all and if I try to use any aspect of the panel I receive a segfault. I still have full access to the programs through terminals but the panel does not work at all. I think what has caused this problem is when I updated from RedHat 7.1 to RedHat 7.2, the first time I logged in to Gnome; I was prompted as to whether I wanted to keep my existing settings or to use the default settings, and for this user I chose to keep the settings. When I first received this for the user I logged off and the signed in as root. When I logged on as root, I was prompted with the same message and this time decided to use the default settings and had no problems. I think the problem is with keeping the settings for the old Gnome control panel while updating to the new one. However, I get the segfault every time I log in as the user and not as root.
