screnshot demonstrating the problem

I've got a multiscreen setup with the primary monitor on top with a 1920x1080
resolution, and the secondary monitor at the bottom with a 1280x800 resolution
and centered wrt to the bigger monitor.

When I maximize a window vertically on the top screen, I can see its shadow at the top of the secondary (bottom) screen. This does not happen when I fully maximize the window.

On the attached screenshot, the shadow is where the mouse pointer is. It's more visible when testing for real because the cursor changes to a "resize window" cursor.
