GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 660292
Gnome image viewer should show the active file name
Last modified: 2014-04-17 15:20:16 UTC
While viewing images in Eye of Gnome/Gnome image viewer, one cannot know which is the active file. The file name should automatically be printed in top bar or somewhere else.
But it actually does... ? Can you tell in which case it doesn't?
Created attachment 197608 [details] Eye of GNOME not showing file name in 3.2.0 It does in Natty (Ubuntu 11.4, GNOME version 2.32.1), but not the next version of Gnome (3.2.0) running in the beta of Oneiric Ocelot (Ubuntu 11.10). See the attached screenshot.
Well, that's pretty likely a customization of Ubuntu. The application sets the window title properly, but it's up to the WM to honor it. Most likely the Ubuntu wm is not doing it. Try with a different WM or with GNOME shell / Mutter running.
You are right, using Unity 2D shows the file name in title bar. Thank you for fast response. I wish all Gnome developers be this way :)
Np. You should file a bug in launchpad. Closing this.
EoG should show this information independent of the windowmanager titling mechanism, e.g. in the lower status bar. Otherwise the information is unavailable when using a windowmanager without decorations.
