Description ERACC 2011-09-05 19:57:15 UTC
This release, included with Mageia 1, appears not to clear the unread message counts in folders when reading messages. It also inserts "fake" unread message numbers on some folders after closing / reopening or after a crash of Evolution. Checking the folder in this case shows no new messages. Closing and opening the application will remove the unread message counts on some folders, but then adds false counts on others. Please let me know if you need me to do any testing.

Distribution: Mageia release 1 (Official) for i586
Gnome Release: 2.32.1 2011-01-15 (Mageia.Org)
BugBuddy Version: 2.32.0
Comment 1 Gene Alexander 2011-09-05 22:25:17 UTC
I am the original bug reporter. It appears this new (to me) Evolution has also:

* placed all my e-mail in "Junk" today
* would not display the messages when I clicked on the Junk folder
* then auto-deleted Junk when I closed and reopened Evolution

No, I did not have the previous release set to auto-delete Junk as I prefer to do that by hand after checking the folder. Every message received today, with the exception of a couple of junk mail (Oh the irony!), has been deleted because of this. So, if there was any response from the triage team to my e-mail account on this original post, that was "eaten" too.

When processing mail it would sometimes pop up this message:

"Check Junk" Failed
Pipe to SpamAssassin failed, error code: 255

I have Evolution running from xterm at the moment and switched from SpamAssassin to Bogofilter to see if that makes any difference.
Comment 2 Gene Alexander 2011-09-05 22:57:19 UTC
So far, running from xterm with Bogofilter - no crash. This is what I see in xterm at the moment:

Remember to register some spam and ham messages before you
use bogofilter to evaluate mail for its probable spam status!

If any of that means something "serious" hopefully you guys will have a clue.

Yes, I have been training Bogofilter with "ham", but I will have to feed it "spam" as that comes in. I do not usually keep SPAM around. :)

Oh ho! Right after posting that last bit I had a crash. Here is the output in xterm:

Okay, it appears there was a mismatch between libgdk_pixbuf2 and gdk-pixbuf2 from doing a migration from Mandriva 2010.2 to Mageia 1. That is probably why there was a crash mentioning /usr/lib/gdk-pixbuf-2.0/2.10.0/loaders/libpixbufloader-jpeg.so up there. I think I have that sorted out now.

However, I am still getting the message count mess I mentioned at the beginning of this report.

any which provider do you use POP / IMAP / Exchange / MAPI ?
Comment 6 Gene Alexander 2011-09-06 04:30:43 UTC
I have both POP and IMAP accounts.

FYI, The message counts mess up on my local Maildir folders to where I filter my incoming mail. So maybe Maildir is not quite "right" here? I prefer Maildir for mail storage. I dislike 'mbox' and "binary blob" mail. The message count seems to be fine on the IMAP account.

Ermm, no... This report lists several issues. Please file separate reports for each issue, and if possible query first as some issues have been fixed in the meantime for 3.0 already. Currently this report is impossible to handle with all its different issues. Closing as INVALID.
