Banshee should be clear of technical jargon on the UI.
Currently under File Policies in the Preferences window is the label "Write metadata to files"
This should be changed to "Write Track Information to files"

Track Information is wording from "Right-click->Edit Track Information" under both music, and video

I agree we should avoid technical jargon in general.

But in this particular case, IMHO, the alternative is not very clear either. "Information" is a very generic term. I prefer that a user is confused by the term "metadata" and asks other people or queries Wikipedia to check what is it.

That's because that action leaves you in a place where there is a tab called "Properties", which shows /Information/ of the track, such as duration, format, etc.

Do we want our users thinking that stuff like "duration", "format",... are written to the file? ;)

Banshee is not under active development anymore and had its last code changes more than three years ago. Its codebase has been archived.

Closing this report as WONTFIX as part of Bugzilla Housekeeping to reflect
reality. Please feel free to reopen this ticket (or rather transfer the project
to GNOME Gitlab, as GNOME Bugzilla is being shut down) if anyone takes the
responsibility for active development again.
See https://gitlab.gnome.org/Infrastructure/Infrastructure/issues/264 for more info.
