This is a gtk+ bug and not specific to gedit as far as I can see. Also, I cannot reproduce this with the latest gedit/gtk+ version (should be released soon). I am reassigning this to gtk+, but I think it can be closed as already being fixed?

Only Gtk+-2.24.6 and later work on OS-X 10.7.
