GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 655634
cannot copy text in 2.32 on Windows (regression from 2.30)
Last modified: 2012-08-30 14:42:22 UTC
In 2.32.0 and 2.32.0-144.1, when copying text to the clipboard (either from the PDF file or a text box such as the page number), it's impossible to paste it in another application, or even another evince 2.32 instance. However pasting within the same evince instance works correctly, even though it is essentially useless. Note that pasting text copied from another application works fine. This bug did not happen in 2.30.3. I marked this bug as major as it makes it impossible to get any data out of a PDF (such as a URL).
It seems that replacing the GTK+ 2.24.4 binaries with the 2.24.5 ones fixes this. In case anyone is interested in patching their installation: extract libgtk-win32-2.0-0.dll, libgdk-win32-2.0-0.dll and intl.dll from gtk+-bundle_2.24.5-20110713_win32.zip (available at https://github.com/dieterv/legacynativebuilds/downloads )
mrgnome I can confirm you fix works.
Please don't mark this with the usability keyword, as this is used when you need input from usability teams and this is clearly not the case. I think hib will update the version of gtk in the windows bundle when he gets the time to do it.
