Description Dieter Verfaillie 2011-07-25 19:45:18 UTC
Hello sysadmin team,

I recently asked on gtk-devel-list [1] if there was interest in keeping
the Windows binaries on ftp.gnome.org/www.gtk.org up to date (because
I've been patching & building newer versions of select components of
the GNOME platform compatible with those builds).

Imagine my surprise when most of the responses got a bit off-topic and
the thread turned into a discussion of the various build systems currently
in existence, the lack of collaboration, duplication of effert,
etc wrt the Windows port of the GNOME platform.

During that discussion, I proposed the possible revival of the old
gtk-win32-list, but this time putting more attention to the whole
of GNOME's platform (after all, even porting GTK+ touches more
modules than GTK+ alone). Even more surprised, people already involved
with the Windows port for far longer than I have thought this might
indeed be helpful [3], [4], [5]

After reading the documentation [6], something like
gnome-windows-devel-list@gnome.org seems to fit both the rules and
the intended purpose perfectly.

So, in short: would it be possible to create:
- The list name:
    gnome-windows-devel-list
- The e-mail address of the primary/initial list administrator:
    dieterv@optionexplicit.be or dieterv@src.gnome.org
- If you are moving your list from an existing service:
    no

Thanks,
Dieter
