Description scotto 2001-11-25 17:22:18 UTC
Package: gnome-pilot
Severity: normal
Version: gnome-pilot-0.1.63-ximian.2
Synopsis: pilot configure crashes when /dev/ttyS0 not chmod'ed or maybe /dev/pilot missing
Bugzilla-Product: gnome-pilot
Bugzilla-Component: general

Description:
pilot configuration wizard crashes every time on a fresh RH7.2 system
with the Ximian gnome 1.4 upgrade installed. The crash occurs, for
example, when clicking the configure pilot setting in evolution or when
adding the pilot synch applet to the panel.

The crash went away after I did these two things:

  chmod 777 /dev/ttyS0
  ln -s /dev/ttyS0 /dev/pilot

Instead of a crash, it would be useful to see an error message from the
configuration wizard, explaining what a new user needs to do.
