Description Jasper St. Pierre (not reading bugmail) 2011-06-15 01:44:39 UTC
Steps to reproduce:
1. Launch web browser
2. Enter "extensions.gnome3.org" in the address field.
3. Press enter.

Expected results:
See a wonderful repository full of user-created third-party supported hacks that do all sorts of cool stuff.

Actual results:
"Firefox can't find the server at extensions.gnome3.org"

This is a tracker bug for any patches required in the Shell itself to help make this possible.

I've never seen or heard of that domain before. Did you buy it?

"gnome-shell" shouldn't be a name we expose to users, so we don't need it in the domain name either.

OK, with these patches, this should be the same as the extension-work branch I have up on GitHub:

  https://github.com/magcius/gnome-shell/tree/extension-work

Tomorrow and the day after I'll work on getting a README up so people can see what little I've done for themselves. After that, some code cleanup, and then some upgrading!

(except for the "move to misc/" patch. I'm not sure why I made that.)

Just one quick thing.
Would extensions.gnome.org be a better domain perhaps?
As I see it, the gnome3.org domain was always a more temporary site than gnome.org, and also think it would make more sense to use gnome.org for the place in time when we move to GNOME 4.0.

Indeed, this point was brought up by some of the sysadmins. It's going to be hosted under gnome.org

This is a tracker bug without any unresolved dependencies. Should it be closed then ? Or did you forget to add some dependencies ?
Comment 8 Jasper St. Pierre (not reading bugmail) 2011-08-28 23:42:50 UTC
There aren't really isn't anything left other than a generic "Launch extensions.gnome.org", but that would be a lot more involved than a bug.

This was originally used as a tracker bug for about 6 or 7 different bugs with different features, but I eventually flattened them into bug #654770.

Let's -1 the dep count on the 3.2 tracker
