Description rickyconnell 2011-06-08 06:40:42 UTC
I have a dual monitor set-up, and I did the tweak to have them both active in workspaces (as opposed to the default of only the primary monitor).

When I view the workspace list, I only see the portion of the workspace that was the primary monitor.

Let me know what information will be useful to duplicate and debug.

Thanks.

When I asked about it in #gnome-shell, magcius suggested this would be a good start document to help with debugging.

Can I help too?

It's a shame that this didn't work from the start off ...
Comment 3 Florian Müllner 2012-07-13 12:01:47 UTC
It doesn't work simply because it hasn't been implemented. It shouldn't be hard to do once we decide what to do, so it's basically blocking on design input (I'll add this issue to my list of stuff-to-discuss-during-hackfest).

We have two options (as far as I can tell):
 - show all monitors in the workspace switcher on the primary monitor (as suggested here); problematic because it scales badly when adding more monitors and it will likely look weird for non-horizontal layouts

 - have one workspace switcher per monitor; suggest that work spaces can be switched per monitor, which is not how workspaces work

In any case, we already have a bug for this, let's keep the discussion there ...
