If you use gnome-tweak-tool to change GNOME 3's font hinting / anti-aliasing settings and watch an Evolution window as you do so, you can see the folder list changes, but the message list does not. Matthew Barnes tell me this is because the message list is a custom widget which is still reading font settings from gconf, while GNOME has moved these settings over to dconf. This can be confirmed by changing the font settings in gconf-editor; these affect the message list, but not the folder list.

The message list widget should be updated to read font settings from dconf.
