[win32] Remove "Prefer CLIPBOARD Over PRIMARY Selection" option from preferences
Last modified: 2011-05-23 13:58:25 UTC
The Windows version of Gnumeric (Gnumeric 1.10.14) has the option "Prefer CLIPBOARD Over PRIMARY Selection" in Edit/Preferences... -> Copy and Paste My proposal is to remove that option, at least from the Windows version. Or is the option useful to your intended Windows audience? What is the use case?
It should affect interaction with other gtk programs. It is an important setting on any other OS. So your statement "at least" should really be "at most". I do not think that changing the interface appearance for MSWindows specifically is a good idea. I vote for NOTABUG/WONTFIX.
It's clearly not useful on win32. I also don't like having different UIs. Andreas: I think we can just hide it unconditionally. "xterm" is a vaning memory.
I don't know about xterm... But I frequently copy many items from wxMaxima to Gnumeric and with "Prefer CLIPBOARD over PRIMARY" checked that is a pain. With "Prefer CLIPBOARD over PRIMARY" unchecked it is much more pleasant (I just have to select in wxMaxima and paste in Gnumeric). I would be very, very unhappy if that item would disappear (unless we would always have the equivalent to "Prefer CLIPBOARD over PRIMARY" unchecked).
We now hide the Copy & Paste preference page under Windows (and moved it to a subpage of Tools otherwise). This problem has been fixed in the development version. The fix will be available in the next major software release. Thank you for your bug report.
